Lukas Mantel believes that the human voice is the ideal instrument for making the listener open up ears. And this works best when the voices, like in his band project „Quetzal“, don’t have to transport lyrics. Quetzal is a quintet in the best sense : two vocalists, acting like a trumpet, saxophone or trombone, singing and playing themes, with unlimited freedom to improvise. Supported by an excellent rhythm section with drums, bass and guitar, drawing on a wide repertoire of grooves, and infinitely resourceful when it comes to inventing or redefining grooves.
